Our Story.
Pila de Boba is a south asian fusion bubble tea store located in the East Village. We wanted to bring south asian inspired bubble tea to the streets of New York City. Our idea was inspired by the infusion of south asian ice cream, known as Kulfi into bubble tea drinks. The idea came to fruition when we noticed a long lagging change in bubble tea concepts.
Our Story.
Pila de Boba was established in 2022 by two friends who wanted to bring south asian inspired bubble tea to the streets of New York City. The idea came to fruition when the two friends had noticed the long lagging change in bubble tea concepts. This is when they realized they had to bring a change to the boba scene.

What is Kulfi?
Kulfi has centuries of history embedded into our culture. It is a frozen dairy dessert similar to ice cream. the word kulfi comes from the Persian language meaning "covered cup". The dessert originated in Delhi, during the Mughal Empire during the 16th century. It eventually made its way to become a part of different cultures in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Kulfi is also often referred to as "traditional Indian ice cream" and it is commonly sold on the streets by vendors known as 'Kulfiwalahs'.
Real Food. No Secret Ingredients.
From the streets of South Asia to the streets of NYC.
Frozen desserts and street food have been a part of our culture for as long as we could remember. Growing up all we could remember is how exciting it was to buy food and desserts from our local street vendors. Whether it was kulfi, chai or even bun kebabs going out with our family and friends to enjoy them was memories made to last. This is the exact reason we do what we do. Bringing our culture from South Asia to introduce it to the west, what better way to do that with some bubble tea and street food concepts.
